Two UK Screen Alliance members were involved in the production; Lupus Films taking on co-production in animation and Halo Post providing finishing post.
After doubling its audience via time-shifted viewing, the 30-minute Christmas Eve one-shot entertained a total of 6.8m after recordings were counted.
The show leapt above a February episode of Gogglebox, which entertained 5.8m and coverage of The Grand National to become the channel’s best performing show of the year.
We’re Going On A Bear Hunt was also Christmas Eve’s most-recorded show, ahead of EastEnders and Coronation Street.
