Oli Hyatt MBE set up Blue-Zoo in 2000 straight from university and over the following 16 years he has slowly grown the studio into one of the largest character animation studio’s in Europe.
He has picked up many of the top creative and business awards over the years as Blue-Zoo has expanded from just 4 people to nearly 140.
His animated shows sell right around the world and he continues to push his business flair in new directions such as moving Blue-Zoo and its subsidiary companies into Software Development, IP Management, Education, Games and Animated Features.
As founder of Animation UK, he is the driving force behind the resurgence in the UK animation industry, both in terms of the creation of the creative industries tax incentives and the promotion of the incredible Great British production talent round the world.
Oli is committed to helping transition the organisation to become part of the UK screen Alliance to unify an industry into an organisation that can talk with one clear voice.
Over and above animation, he’s a passionate believer in the power of creative children’s media and works hard to represent children by being on the committee of BAFTA, Skillset, British Animation Awards and is a founder patron of the Children’s Media Foundation. He represents animation at the NextGen Skills Academy and on the NFTS board.
