Anthem Studios and Rabid Rat to co-produce new animated series ForkFish

The London-based studio has entered into a co-production partnership with Polish studio Rabid Rat to produce the new comedy series ForkFish, a CG animated show for 6-11 year olds.

ForkFish

ForkFish is a super fun, mockumentary-style show that follows the antics of ForkFish and his friends, as he itches to experience all that living on land can be. Forkfish arrived in the coastal town of Forkville one morning, when he swallowed a boardwalk fork statue that was accidentally knocked into the water, giving him the ability to walk and talk. With its history as the birthplace of the fork, most of the town embrace ForkFish as a hero, as he navigates living on land and avoiding the fisherman.

ForkFish initially made waves as one of the five finalists in the MIPJunior pitch competition in 2021. Created by Michael Wakelam, who will produce and write on the series, ForkFish will be a co-production between the two studios, who have worked together on many commercial projects, along with Anthem’s Cartoon Forum pitch project, The Wild Truth.

The team at Rabid Rat have been close collaborators of ours for many years, and their ability to push the boundaries technically to achieve a creative vision is paramount to what we’re wanting to achieve in terms of quality of this project.

Michael Wakelam, Founder and Director at Anthem Studios

Working with Michael and Anthem has always been a blast, even before the Rabid Rat days when we were freelancers. His passion for developing characters and stories, whether it’s for commercials or his own projects, has always impressed us. Collaborating with Michael is like catching up with an old friend – there’s an unspoken understanding that makes everything just click. It’s the kind of teamwork where you don’t need to overthink, and that’s what makes it so enjoyable.

The team plan to begin production in the second quarter and will be meeting potential broadcast and streaming partners throughout the year.
