CLOTH CAT’S FIRST IP PICKED UP BY SERIOUS KIDS

17 February 2026

Cloth Cat wrapped production on its first IP, ‘The Ghost of Midwinter’, just in time for broadcast on S4C on Christmas Day and Serious Kids have signed worldwide rights excluding Welsh speaking for launch at Miptv.

Funded entirely through S4C, Creative Wales Skills Fund, and Cloth Cat,  ‘The Ghost of Midwinter’ is a half hour special  produced in UHD.  Set in medieval Wales, this is a haunting story of a Nia’s quest to save her father’s life against all the odds.   Written and directed by Jon Rennie with music composed by Brollyman.

‘Building on Cloth Cat’s experience producing and animating series like Shane the Chef, Luo Bao Bei and Dave Spud, this our first original broadcast film and wholly owned IP. We hope this will be the first of many more Welsh stories. This is our first collaboration with Serious Kids and we look forward to working with them!’ – Jon Rennie, Managing Director.

‘We fell in love with the classic nature of this special featuring a strong heroine who achieves everything she set out to do and more.  The star performance of the ghost coupled with the stirring music and gorgeous backgrounds makes this an important film for us.  Spanning Halloween and winter seasons it also provides good flexibility for programming.’ – Genevieve Dexter, Founder & CEO
