Framestore earns eight nominations at the 2020 Visual Effects Society Awards

Eight nominations across a diverse range of recent work in film, television, advertising and immersive projects for Framestore.

This week the Visual Effects Society announced their nominations for the 18th Annual VES Awards, with creative studio Framestore the proud recipient of eight nominations for a wide breadth of work across film, television, advertising and immersive projects.

Feature film The Aeronauts (Amazon Studios) is nominated for the prestigious award in Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature, with His Dark Materials (BBC / HBO) nominated for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode and See (Apple TV) nominated for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode.

Disney’s Lady and the Tramp scored a double nomination for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode and Outstanding Animated Character in an Episode for ‘Tramp.’  Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame also earned a nod in the Outstanding Animated Character category for Smart Hulk; the Bruce Banner / Hulk hybrid.

Framestore’s work on the Purdey’s commercial Hummingbird was recognised in the Outstanding Visual Effects in a Commercial category, while the innovative immersive project Universal Sphere for Comcast has been nominated for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Special Venue Project.

Avengers: Endgame was also nominated this week for the BAFTA in Special Visual Effects. In addition, three films worked on extensively by the Framestore team have made the top ten shortlist for the Oscar in Best Visual Effects. Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel and James Cameron’s Alita: Battle Angel have all been selected for their pioneering VFX work.
