The studio announces the appointment of Senior CG Lead Reece Weldon, who joins the team to work on their growing slate of film and episodic projects.
Reece has landed at Freefolk and has an impressive list of high profile credits under his belt including, Britannia (Amazon Studios), The Watch (BBC), White Lines (Netflix) and Black Mirror (Netflix). He graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2017 after studying VFX for Film and TV. His talent, work ethic and delightful personality have enabled Reece to quickly work his way up the ranks to Senior CG Lead. Reece will be working with Freefolk’s Head of CG Harin Hirani.
Reece is not only an outstanding talent but a great human-being with a contagious passion for his craft. He is an invaluable addition to us as we continue to grow our longform department.

I love the excitement of big scale projects but I’ve always preferred the warm, comforting feeling of a smaller studio. I like to be able to know everyone on the team without feeling too distant and detached from the community. Reece sees a key part of his role as making sure everyone is assigned to the work that’s best suited to their skillset, and to guide the 3D crew through the progression of the project.
I’m really very excited about my new role. For me, communication and compassion are the most important things for a lead artist. It really is key to keeping projects and teams on track, it’s vital I make sure each artist is feeling good and positive about what they’re doing. This fits in perfectly with the Freefolk ethos and I am loving being part of the team.

Other credits include Fast & Furious 10 (Universal), Napoleon (Sony Pictures Entertainment), Winx (Netflix), Cursed (Netflix) for which they were nominated for a BAFTA Craft Award, The Third Day (Sky / HBO), Pennyworth – Season 2 for Warner Horizon and The Alienist (Paramount) for which they won an Emmy.
