VFX and animation studio Jellyfish Pictures is taking a step towards creating its own IP with the appointment of a head of development.

Natalie Llewellyn joins the company from Platinum Films where, as head of global strategy, she oversaw the global distribution of children’s properties including Young Bear Grylls and Dream Street. She has also worked at V&S Entertainment and All3Media-owned Midsomer Murders indie Bentley Productions.

In the past two years, Jellyfish has worked on dramas including Sky Atlantic’s Black Mirror, BBC1’s Troy: Fall of a City and Netflix’s Black Mirror, children’s shows Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed! and Bitz & Bob and movies such as Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Jellyfish chief executive Phil Dobree said 2018 would be the year in which the company would build on its earlier collaborations and take the lead on its own ideas.

“Natalie brings a great pedigree to the team – her experience as an animation and drama producer and as a programming sales director means she is perfectly placed to help us reach our goals. This appointment signifies how seriously we are taking this side of the business.”
