Working Groups

All the working groups provide forums for discussion on important topics, but they do more than this. The groups are not “talking-shops” as they seek to analyse issues from which we can develop policies and actions.

Facilities Members’ Meeting

Each month, we host an hour-long Zoom meeting for members. Everybody is welcome to join us as we discuss the hot issues of the month. You can ask questions anonymously if needed, to see if others have the same issues. Often we have industry guests to brief you on new topics of interest.

Animation Members’ Meeting

This is the main member forum for all things animation, such as PSB relationships, the animation tax credit, investment and funding, co-production and international promotion at festivals (e.g. Annecy). We host these hour-long meetings once a month.

VFX and Animation Skills Group

Our most active group meets 10 times a year and its remit is anything to do with the VFX workforce. It is attended by HR, recruitment, talent management, learning and development, and visa specialists from VFX (and animation) companies. Its activities have included responding to consultations on post Brexit visas for skilled workers and ensuring that VFX and animation roles are on the Shortage Occupation List. It also is a focal point for developing and promoting training initiatives such as apprenticeships. It is also the driving force behind of annual workforce survey.

VFX PR Group

This group consists of the VFX studio publicists. Its remit is to promote the UK’s VFX industry as a whole. It collates sharable public domain information and case studies about what VFX is being performed in the UK. These resources are then used in our advocacy campaigns with government, BFI and BFC and for international promotion of the UK as a destination for inward investment.

Commercial Animation Group

the group consists of animation companies working in the commercial space. The remit of the group is to answer the following questions:

• How do we market ourselves and get other animation agencies to join us?
• Should we join forces with other animation organisations?
• How do we inspire and inform new talent about the commercial animation sub sector?
• What practical resources can we provide our fellow commercial animation members with?

Features Animation Group

The group consists of animation companies working in features.

Audio Post Production Group

The group is for boutique audio facilities, as well as audio departments of larger post-production facilities. The aim of the group is to lobby on behalf of audio creatives and create a single voice to influence areas such as technical clarity on Film and TV deliverables lists, common sense on QC reports, and to liaise with equipment companies to improve audio resources and outcomes. This will be in addition to all the advocacy that UK Screen Alliance does for its wider membership on fiscal policy like tax credits, skills and education, and international promotion.

If your particular interest is not served by any of these groups, then please let us know. It may be that others may share similar viewpoints and we can start a new special interest working group.

To join an existing working group, please email us to be put on the invitation list.
