Artem has been designing and producing physical special effects for film, television, commercials and music videos since its inception in 1987.

“For over three decades Artem has been providing a full range of physical special effects. We love to blow things up, and will create fire, smoke, blood, foul weather and general mayhem for projects of any scale and budget. We can design and build the most amazing models, animatronics and mechanical marvels, bring superhero suits from page to reality and strew battlefields with prosthetic casualties.

Based in our custom-designed workshops in West London and Glasgow, our permanent staff is supported by a pool of around 100 freelance specialists, enabling us to tackle projects of any scale for clients all over the world.

We operate across a range of sectors, from feature films and high-end television drama to commercials, music videos, exhibitions, theatre and live events.

Our credits include: Roadkill, Adult Material, I Hate Suzie, DEVS, The Great, Dark Encounter, Bodyguard, Solis, T2: Trainspotting, Paddington 2, The Foreigner, Macbeth and In the Heart of the Sea. Recent commercials include Fox’s Biscuits, Lego: Rebuild the World and Churchill: Chill – where the newly CGI Churchill is seen skateboarding on a physical prop designed and controlled by Artem technicians.

Artem have also provided special effects and props to Harry Potter: The Cursed Child, Take That’s Arena Tours, Holiday on Ice, and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympics.

Our approach to making includes both modern and traditional tools and skills, from computer-aided design and manufacture to hands-on welding or sculpting, all provided on the same site for maximum convenience and availability. Our 20,000 sq ft London workshop is co-located with a hire and sales service, outdoor canopy area and a sizable backlot facility for testing and shooting of effects and elements.”
